Below is the current TO-DO list for Garden 1. Please refer to it each week to prepare for your day.
DAILY TASKS -- all teams:
1. Watering
Do a general inspection of the drip lines to spot any problems -- leaks, over-watering, under-watering.
Gently hand water newly planted seeds and seedlings -- these are marked with red flags
Water the plants that are in pots or outside the fence
2. Weed -- put the weeds in the green-waste container (not in the composting piles)
3. Remove dead vegetable leaves -- put them in the left-hand half of the double composting bin
4. Check for insects -- see Guidelines for Insect Control
5. Check for other problems -- walk the perimeter; check for suffering plants, watering problems, needed repairs, etc.
6. Take action yourself if appropriate
7. Pick up and clean up site as necessary, including the workbench and side yard.
8. At home, post a Daily Report so everyone knows what your team did and what you observed, including problems that need action
ADDITIONAL TASKS FOR PARTICULAR TEAMS:
-----Monday team --- harvest; water perimeter plants and pots
---- Tuesday team --- patrol for ants and perimeter weeds
---- Wednesday team -- harvest; water perimeter plants and pots
---- Thursday team -- patrol for snails and perimeter weeds
---- Friday team -- harvest; put out trash when containers are full (see Guidelines for Trash)
---- Saturday team --- water perimeter plants and pots, monitor compost area
---- Sunday team --- tend and maintain the BioStack
ADDITIONAL PROJECTS AS NEEDED
-- Lay mulch (wood chips) in garden walkways & perimeter, and outside garden areas
-- Apply Miramar compost to the top of the garden rows to cover the dirt..
-- Re-survey the rows. The stakes and strings have moved over time -- put them back where they belong so the width of the beds is maintained.
-- Weed-whack weeds in the field outside the garden
OFF-SITE PROJECTS
-- Ongoing: Pick up coffee grounds and deliver to the site -- dump into Bin #2, filters and all.
